The Y Combinator (YC) Accelerator is accepting applications for its Summer 2016 funding cycle (YC Core).
Y Combinator is also accepting applications for its Fellowship Program. The Fellowship program is a lighter version of YC Core specifically for idea and prototype stage companies. More about this second opportunity will be described in a separate post shortly.
PRIZES
$120,000 funding for 7% equity.
The startups move to Silicon Valley for 3 months, during which YC works intensively with them to get the company into the best possible shape and refine their pitch to investors. Each cycle culminates in Demo Day, when the startups present their companies to a carefully selected, invite-only audience.
YC and its alumni network continue to help founders for the life of their company, and beyond.
DEADLINE
March 24, 2016 (8 pm PT).
You must have at least 10% equity in the startup to be considered a founder for the Y Combinator Summer 2016 Batch Funding. Only founders can come to interviews if invited or attend batch events if accepted. Ideally the equity would be divided more or less equally among the founders.
International founders, please note: if your company is a non-United States entity (corporation, limited liability company, etc.), your participation in YC is conditional on conversion of your foreign company into a United States corporation.
YC can only offer minimal help with the conversion process and unfortunately it must be complete before the batch begins.

JUDING CRITERIA
The people in the group are what matter most.
They are looking for brains, motivation, and a sense of design. Experience is helpful but not critical.

Your idea is important too, but mainly as evidence that you can have good ideas. Most successful startups change their idea substantially.
The ideal company would have two or three founders. YC shall consider those with four or five. They are reluctant to accept one-person companies, though they have funded a few.
YC Summer 2016 Batch will take place in Mountain View, CA from Jun–Aug 2016.

Note: Both programs (YC Fellowship and YC Core) will use the same application form. In the application, you’ll simply select which of the two you’re applying for.
If you’re unsure which program best applies to you, apply to both! The YC partners can decide which program your application is best suited for.
